Local lass Marie Louise Preston from Balmacara married her fiance Graeme Mitchell yesterday at Eilean Donan Castle. Although the weather was not quite as perfect as everyone hoped, it still stayed dry for long enough to get some photographs of the happy couple in the castle grounds, before everyone departed for the reception at the Dunollie Hotel in Broadford. The happy couple will be jetting off to Canada on honeymoon this week, but feel free to leave a comment for them below for when they return.

Wedding Photography | Kim + Paul | Eilean Donan Castle

Last weekend was my first wedding of 2010 when the lovely Kim from Plockton, married Paul at Eilean Donan Castle. The couple live in Coatbridge but returned to Kim’s home to wed, surrounded by family and friends. Luckily, the weather was dry all day, if not a bit chilly, but everyone braved the outdoors for some lovely photographs. Afterwards the wedding party travelled back to Plockton to the village hall where staff from the Plockton Inn provided a superb meal before the dancing began. Congratulations to Kim and Paul and all the best for the future. Here are a few photos from the day.

Wedding Photography | Julie & Alan | Eilean Donan Castle – Loch Ness Lodge

Last week I had the pleasure of photographing a magical wedding when Julie and Alan tied the knot at Eilean Donan Castle before taking their families to Loch Ness Lodge near Inverness for an evening reception. Loch Ness Lodge was where Alan popped the question so it was fitting that part of the event was held there! Julie and Alan were a joy to work with and despite the freezing temperatures they were totally up for anything, including stopping en route in the middle of the mountains for a shot – just as we finished the first flakes of snow fell on their winter wedding.

They are heading off on honeymoon after Christmas but feel free to leave a message below for them as I’m sure they will be checking the blog to see a sneak preview of the images. I make no apology for this lengthy blog post – but with such a gorgeous couple, a stunning venue and a beautiful crisp winter day, you can’t really blame me!

Scottish Wedding Vows Awards | Shortlisted!

I am very excited to announce that I have been shortlisted for the Scottish Wedding Vows Awards in the photographer category. The Vows Awards represent consistent excellent customer service. I am told the photographer category is one of the most hotly contested so I am very chuffed to be included in the shortlist, which contains seven other well-known and talented photographers. The winner will be announced at a ceremony in Glasgow on 9th November so fingers crossed! Much thanks to all the brides who voted for me – it’s been a pleasure meeting you this year and photographing your special days.

Wedding Photography | Bita & Nimo | Duisdale Hotel, Isle of Skye

Yesterday I photographed the very intimate wedding of Bita and Nimo – childhood sweethearts from Iran who found each other after years apart – a real love story! They chose to marry at Duisdale Hotel in Sleat on the Isle of Skye and afterwards we took a trip around the area to take some location shots of the happy couple. Bita looked beautiful in her dress and her handsome husband was beaming from ear to ear all day. The couple live and work in Edinburgh, which Bita is finding a bit colder than Paris – and I am sure they will be back to Skye to celebrate their anniversaries in years to come. Vow Renewal | Janice & Joe | Eilean Donan Castle

This week I photographed the vow renewal of Janice and Joe from New Jersey. They married 30 years ago and came to Eilean Donan Castle with their two sons, Mark and Andrew and Mark’s wife Lauren and Andrew’s girlfriend Katherine. Janice came to Kyle of Lochalsh thirty five years ago and fell in love with the castle; ever the romantic, Joe arranged for her to return to renew their vows. The family stayed at Duisdale Hotel on Skye and after a week in London, Janice and Joe are sailing back to the USA on the Queen Mary. Here are a few of the images taken on their special day.

Last Saturday I photographed the wedding of Patricia and Joe who live near Boston in the USA. Unfortunately, the weather was dreadful and Patricia was desperate to get some photographs of the beautiful scenery we have here so today I met with them again and we had a little location shoot around the Sleat area where they are staying. Patricia and Joe travelled all the way from Massechussets in the USA to get married at Toravaig Hotel in Skye yesterday. Joe is originally from Dublin and moved to America in 1993; he and Patricia met three years ago, and it was love at first sight. They had always wanted to visit Scotland together and so chose to have their wedding here, just the two them. The ceremony was conducted by Elizabeth McNiven, Broadford registrar, and the witnesses were two of the staff who work at Toravaig Hotel – Adam and Maria from Poland. This week Karen and Nigel travelled up from Staffordshire to wed in secret at Duisdale Hotel in Sleat on the Isle of Skye. Another lovely wedding this weekend when Denise, Drew and their friends and family travelled up from the south of England to marry at Eilean Donan castle. Unusually though, the couple decided to have their reception meal before the wedding ceremony (which takes place at 6.30pm at the castle) so Denise had two dresses to wow Drew with! After the ceremony, everyone returned to Plockton Hotel to dance the night away. Here are some of the photographs from the day – the rest will be available in around three to four weeks.
