Getting married on your tenth anniversary of being a couple – that’s a pretty cool date to choose and it’s exactly what Kirsten and Evan from Canada did last winter. They planned a trip to Scotland, having previously decided that that this was where they would tie the knot and arranged their Isle of Skye elopement for the middle of their trip.
Kirsten and Evan had booked to stay at the fantastic Skye Hideaway in the south of the island. With a huge glass frontage looking out onto the water it was the perfect place for a romantic trip – snuggling up on the sofa with a glass of whisky, watching the weather and the waves – simply idyllic.
The morning of the wedding I joined Kirsten as she was getting ready and then it was time for the big reveal…Evan waited tentatively for his bride to descend the stairs and he was blown away when he turned around and saw her. Once the witnesses (my lovely cousin and her husband volunteered!) and local celebrant Sonja had arrived, we set off to a nearby spot which we had picked for the ceremony. It was a slightly dreich day but the rain did hold off until after the paperwork had been signed but as it was a bit too wet and cold for the portraits, I arranged to meet the newlyweds a couple of days later when we drove around Skye for some beautiful shots. Here a some of my favourites from our time together.
